Since the Binance app is not available on the Chinese App Store, iOS users need a foreign Apple ID to download it. Here's how to register a foreign Apple ID and successfully download Binance — the entire process takes about 10-15 minutes.
Register on Binance now | Download the Binance app
Why Do You Need a Foreign Apple ID?
Due to regulatory requirements, the Chinese App Store has removed most cryptocurrency-related apps, including Binance. Therefore, iOS users must sign into the App Store with an Apple ID from a region like the US, Hong Kong, or Japan to search for and download Binance.
This is completely legitimate. Apple allows users to have multiple Apple IDs from different regions. You can keep your Chinese ID for daily use and switch to your foreign ID only when you need to download specific apps.
Steps to Register a Foreign Apple ID
Step 1: Preparation
- Prepare an email that hasn't been used for an Apple ID (Gmail or Outlook recommended — avoid Chinese email providers as they may not receive verification emails)
- Note down the password you plan to use (at least 8 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, and numbers)
- Choose a registration region (US or Hong Kong recommended — the US has the most complete app selection, while Hong Kong offers a Chinese interface)
Step 2: Register in a Browser
It's recommended to register through a browser on a computer or phone rather than directly in phone settings — browser registration has a higher success rate.
- Go to Apple's website at appleid.apple.com
- Click "Create Your Apple ID"
- Fill in personal information. Select "United States" or "Hong Kong" for Country/Region
- Enter your prepared email as the Apple ID
- Set a password — at least 8 characters with uppercase, lowercase, and numbers
- Set security questions (may be required for some regions)
- Complete phone verification — you can use a Chinese phone number to receive the code
- Complete email verification — click the verification link in the email
Step 3: Complete Account Information
After registration, the first time you sign in on your phone, the system may ask you to complete account details:
If you selected the US:
- Set payment method to "None" so no credit card is required
- Use an address from a sales-tax-free state like Oregon to avoid tax charges
- Enter a US-format phone number (any valid format like 503-xxx-xxxx works)
If you selected Hong Kong:
- Also set payment method to "None"
- Enter any Hong Kong address
- Enter a phone number in 852 format
Step 4: Sign In on Your Phone and Download
- Open iPhone "Settings" > tap your name at the top > "Media & Purchases"
- Tap "Sign Out" (this only signs out of the App Store, not iCloud)
- In the App Store, tap the profile icon in the top right and sign in with your new foreign Apple ID
- After signing in, open the App Store and search for "Binance"
- Tap to download and install
- After downloading, you can switch back to your Chinese ID for daily use
Important Notes
- Don't sign into iCloud with the foreign ID: Only switch accounts in the App Store. Signing into iCloud with a foreign ID could cause your phone data (contacts, photos, etc.) to desync across devices or even result in your phone being remotely locked
- How to switch: Go to "Settings" > tap your name > "Media & Purchases" > "Sign Out," then sign in with the other ID. This only affects the App Store, not iCloud
- Keep your credentials safe: You'll use this foreign ID long-term — record the email and password, ideally in a physical notebook
- Log in periodically: Inactivity over a long period may cause Apple to freeze the account — sign in at least once every 1-2 months
- Don't buy Apple IDs from others: This poses serious security risks — sellers can remotely lock your phone via iCloud, bricking it
- App updates: You need to be signed in with the foreign ID to update the app. Consider enabling automatic updates
An Easier Alternative
If registering a foreign Apple ID feels too complicated, here are alternatives:
Android users: Download the APK installation file directly from the Binance website — no Google Play required. This is the simplest and most direct method.
iOS backup option: You can install via Binance's TestFlight link from the official website, which doesn't require switching Apple IDs. However, TestFlight slots may sometimes require waiting.
Use the web version: Access the Binance website via Safari for trading. While not as convenient as the app, it requires no additional steps.
