Fingerprint login lets you quickly and securely access the Binance app without entering your password every time. Register on Binance to create your account, then Download Binance APP to set up fingerprint login.
Before You Start
- Make sure your phone has registered fingerprints (done in your phone's system settings). If you haven't enrolled any fingerprints yet, go to Settings > Biometrics & Security > Fingerprints to set them up. It's recommended to register 2–3 fingers in case one is injured or wet.
- Update the Binance app to the latest version. Older versions may not support biometric features or may have compatibility issues.
- You must be logged into your Binance account. Fingerprint login is tied to an existing login session — you need to log in with your password at least once first.
Setup Steps
- Open the Binance app
- Tap the profile icon in the top-left corner
- Go to "Security Center" or "Settings"
- Find the "Biometrics" or "Fingerprint/Face Recognition" option
- Enable fingerprint recognition
- Enter your account password for identity verification (confirming it's really you)
- Follow the prompt to verify your fingerprint — place your finger on the sensor
- Setup complete — the system will confirm "Fingerprint unlock enabled"
The whole process takes just a minute or two. If you have trouble at step 6, make sure you're entering your Binance account password, not your phone unlock code.
When Fingerprint Login Is Used
Once enabled, you can use your fingerprint in these scenarios:
App login: Use your fingerprint instead of a password when opening the app. Every time you open the app or switch back from the background, you can quickly unlock with your fingerprint. This is especially useful when you need to check prices quickly while out and about.
Trade confirmation: Some trading operations can be confirmed with a fingerprint instead of entering a trading password. This makes transactions faster while maintaining security — crucial when the market is moving fast and you need to place orders quickly.
Viewing assets: Viewing sensitive information may require biometric verification, such as detailed asset breakdowns and transaction history.
Withdrawal confirmation: Fingerprint can also serve as one verification method during withdrawals. However, withdrawals typically still require 2FA codes — the fingerprint only replaces the password entry step.
Face Recognition
Besides fingerprint, the Binance app also supports facial recognition (Face ID):
- iPhone X and later models support Face ID — the most convenient biometric option on Apple devices
- Some Android phones support face recognition, though security levels may be lower than fingerprint
- The setup process is similar to fingerprint, on the same settings page
If your phone supports both fingerprint and face recognition, you can choose one or enable both. Some devices can automatically switch to face recognition when fingerprint fails.
Security Analysis
Fingerprint login is more secure than password-only login because:
- Fingerprints can't be stolen or guessed — each person's fingerprint is unique
- Every login requires you to be physically present — it can't be attacked remotely
- Even if your phone is lost, others can't pass fingerprint verification
- Fingerprint data is stored in the phone's secure chip and never uploaded to servers
- There's no risk of being captured by a keylogger
That said, fingerprint login can't fully replace a password. Keep a strong password and two-factor authentication (2FA) as additional layers. Fingerprint improves convenience, while 2FA and strong passwords provide security — you need both.
Usage Tips
- Keep your fingers dry and clean — wet or oily fingers may cause recognition failures
- When enrolling fingerprints, capture multiple angles to cover different areas of your fingerprint
- If the fingerprint sensor loses sensitivity over time, delete and re-enroll your fingerprints in system settings
- Fingerprint login doesn't work with gloves — you'll need to enter your password
FAQ
What if fingerprint recognition fails? Clean your finger and the sensor, then try again. After multiple failures, the system will ask for your password. In winter, dry fingers may reduce accuracy — try applying a bit of hand cream first.
What about switching phones? Set it up again on your new phone — fingerprint data doesn't transfer. Log in with your password on the new Binance app, then re-enable fingerprint recognition.
Will new fingerprints work with Binance? If you enroll new fingerprints in your phone's system, the Binance app usually recognizes them automatically without re-setup. However, if you delete all old fingerprints, you may need to re-enable the feature in the app.
