Before You Delete: Preparation Checklist

Before deleting your account, make sure you've completed the following. These steps are critical — missing any one of them could cause the deletion to fail or lead to asset loss.

1. Withdraw All Assets

  • Transfer all crypto to another wallet or exchange, checking the balance of every token
  • Withdraw any fiat currency balance via C2C or other methods
  • Check for unredeemed assets in savings products, including flexible savings, locked savings, and Launchpool
  • Look for any open or pending orders
  • Check balances across all sub-accounts: futures, margin, funding, etc.
  • Note that some tokens may have tiny "dust" balances — use the "Convert Small Balances to BNB" feature to clean these up

2. Close All Services

  • Cancel all active savings subscriptions
  • Close any open futures positions
  • Stop recurring buy (auto-invest) plans
  • Revoke and delete all API keys
  • Cancel all open orders, including spot and futures limit orders, stop-loss orders, etc.
  • If you use Binance Pool, stop mining and withdraw your earnings first
  • Cancel your Binance Card (if applicable)

3. Save Important Records

  • Export your trade history — Binance supports exporting complete records in CSV format
  • Save deposit and withdrawal records (useful for tax filing) — keep them for at least 5 years
  • Take screenshots of key account details including your UID and registered email
  • Download all API trading records
  • Save C2C chat logs and payment receipts

Deletion Steps

Via the App

  1. Open the Binance app
  2. Go to "Account" > "Security" > "Account Management"
  3. Find the "Delete Account" option
  4. Read the deletion notice and confirm
  5. Complete security verification (email + phone + Google Authenticator)
  6. Optionally provide a reason for deletion (this helps Binance improve its services)
  7. Submit the deletion request

Via the Website

  1. Log in to the Binance website
  2. Go to "Profile" > "Security Settings"
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and find "Delete Account"
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions

After submitting, there is typically a cooling-off period (about 7 days) during which you can cancel the request at any time. If you don't cancel within this period, the account will be permanently deleted.

Common Reasons for Deletion Failure

If you run into issues during the process, it may be due to:

  • Remaining balance: Even a very small amount will block deletion — all assets must be zeroed out
  • Pending transactions: Including open orders, in-progress C2C trades, or locked savings that haven't matured
  • Frozen account: Accounts frozen by risk control must be unfrozen before deletion
  • Failed security verification: Make sure all linked verification methods are working
  • Unsettled referral commissions: If you're a referrer, there may be unpaid commissions

What Happens After Deletion?

  • Data retention: Due to legal requirements, some data may be retained for a certain period (typically 5 years to comply with anti-money laundering regulations)
  • Irreversible: Account deletion is permanent — all data will be permanently removed
  • Email release: Your email can be used to register a new account after deletion, though there may be a waiting period
  • Referral relationships: All referral commission relationships will be cleared
  • KYC information: Identity verification data will be handled according to legally required retention periods

Important Notes

  1. Confirm zero balance: The account cannot be deleted while it holds any assets
  2. No open orders: All trades and orders must be settled
  3. No frozen assets: Any frozen assets must be unfrozen first
  4. Think carefully: Deletion is irreversible — consider it thoroughly
  5. Save your records: Make sure to export all necessary history before proceeding

Alternatives to Deletion

If you just want to take a break, consider these alternatives instead of permanently deleting your account:

  • Enable account dormancy mode to keep the account with limited functionality
  • Withdraw all assets but keep the account for future use
  • Disable unnecessary trading permissions to reduce security risk
  • Remove API keys and unauthorized device access
  • Strengthen security settings and leave the account idle until needed

Many users regret deleting their accounts, since re-registering requires going through KYC verification again. If you're only stepping away temporarily, keeping the account is usually the smarter choice.
